In the slide show on the side. This is what my creature looked like when I was told to create a creature without any reference. My first instinct was to look at what I was working with in the first place. The first thing I noticed was the eyes. I thought that I would be creating some sort of pre-historical creature. At first I thought that it would be extremely hard without any idea of what you are creating. I felt really overwhelmed when I was making it because there were so many pieces and I only built lego once in my life. When I saw the claws of the lego and pieces that looked like hands, I figured out that I can attach the pieces together. When I saw the pieces that looked like wings, I could attach the claws to the wings. Since I saw lots of balls with a socket, I tried to put it together and it worked. So I decided to go from there. Once I attached what I could, I put on the other pieces that I could. When I was done my creation looked like what you see in the slideshow. Most of the decisions I made were based on the piece shapes and how they fit into each-other.

When I was taking this creature apart, I actually felt really sad because I worked really hard on the assignment when I was trying to put the pieces together and making them stick. I feel like I had my creature fairly close to the real thing. I honestly didn't want to take it apart so in loving memory of my creature, he is my wallpaper so I will never forget him. I might be a little dramatic over this but, this is my second time learning how to properly create a lego sculpture all by myself. So, I really liked this project because I made lego again. In the future, I think that I will build more lego figures but using the advanced version of it. I actually think I want one for my birthday (I will ask my mom for one). I am also really happy because I got another chance to improve my creature.

I forgot to take a picture of what I did with the picture reference but I will try my best to explain it. When I saw the picture, I decided the best way for my creature to look the closest to the photo, I need to organize the pieces by the shape and colour. By doing that, it made it way easier for me to build the photo. There were many struggles when I was trying to build this because I didn't know what the back of my creature looked like. When I saw the balls with its socket I saw it was for the limbs of my creature. Like its legs and arms. I was also correct about the hands of the creature. The claws are what I am talking about. With the face, I sort of got it right. I used the right lego blocks but didn't get the base of the structure correct. Most of the black pieces in my project are actually for a different creature (the buddy of my creature.) Compared to the actual creature, I got the arms and hands messed up because there are so many layers of it. Also a significant part of my creature was being covered. In the hands, in the legs, in the arms. Even though I didn't know what a lot of the creature looks like, I still got it done.

With the instructions, it was way easier because I knew what I was doing and I didn't have any trouble putting the pieces together. When I was building the mixer without any reference, the part that I got correct were the hands. But everything else wasn't even close to the original. When I was building this, I saw the difference between me using the reference photo and me using the instructions. When I was using the photo for the reference, I struggled putting the pieces together because I didn't know what the back looked like. There was a lot of trial and error included in this. But when I used the instructions, it was way easier to build everything because there was a manual. Compared to me using the image as a reference, the most different part of the build were the arms because of the lighting. In my creature there were balls and sockets for limb movement but since the limbs were different shades of grey, I couldn't figure out what goes where. But for this one, the manual was easy to understand and follow.

One day, Rhinfish was swimming around in the lake to go shopping. But when his phone rang, the police called saying that hi parents were taken by aliens. He had to live on his own. But since his phone had no wifi to direct him home, he decided to swim by himself (worst idea). Instead of him swimming home, he swam all the way to Athlete Arts. He immediately saw dinosaurs and many creatures he has never seen in his life. Someone walked up to him and asked where his parents are. He said that they were taken by humans. So they to him to their house for dinner. He had stayed there longer than he thought. She trained him to be one of the Dinos and overtime he evolved into what he is now.
She signed him up for Athlete Arts High School. When he went there he was bullied a lot because he was mixed. He got bullied for is entire first year of high school. In the summer time he decided to make a change. He was not going to eat sugar, he wasn't going to eat junk food and he was going to work out every single day. Overtime, his body started to improve and he got way stronger. When he went to grade 12, he graduated with a scholarship to one of the best training camps in the world. Everyday he pushed himself to become better and better.
When he graduated, he got to do an interview with one of the worst teams in the world. He wanted to this because he wanted to make a change to the team. Since he was the best on the team, he tried helping everyone he could. On his first game, their team won because Rhinfish scored the winning goal. Rhinfish stayed on the team for 10 years. But something was wrong. The coach would rarely show up because he was sleeping in or being lazy. Rhinfish stood up and coached the team for the rest of the time. Soon enough he was the official coach of the team and his team was one of the best teams. He also earned a dog from his team for all his hard work. Right now, he is living his best life as a football coach.

When I first saw all the lego pieces that I had, I was very overwhelmed because there were so many pieces that were different shapes and sizes. I decided to go with whatever my gut says to do. When I was building my creature, there was many times where I had to disassemble the pieces because some of the pieces will not go together. I really struggled with the first part of this project because I had no idea on what to create. But when I figured out where everything goes, I got the point.
When I used a reference I thought that it was going to be easy because there was an image for me to look at. But then I realized that a significant amount of the creature was covered so I decided to compromise. I tried to experiment with ways I could create the creature without having the backside to look at. When I was done with it, it came out better than I expected and really close to the original.
With the instructions, I could easily navigate to where the pieces go to without struggling to get it. What I didn't realize is that there is a buddy that came with my creature which I didn't have a clue about. because it wasn't on the picture reference. But when I learned I realized why I struggled so much in the first time I build my creation. From this project, I learned that sometimes the pieces don't go together but whatever you do, at least try to put the pieces together.
